In the afternoon and evening of Friday May 5, Restless Books will be sharing a table with our friends Archipelago Books at a block party organized by the CLMP at the 2017 PEN World Voices Festival: PRESS FEST! The event, a literary magazine and small press fair, will take place at NYU's King Juan Carlos Center near Washington Square in Manhattan from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. From 4:30 pm until 5:30 pm. Icelandic author and Björk-collaborator Oddný Eir will sign her novel Land of Love and Ruins and Polish journalist Filip Springer will sign his nonfiction work History of a Disappearance: The Story of a Forgotten Polish Town.
The PRESS FEST! overlaps with the kickoff of the PEN World Voices Festival Lit Crawl events starting at 6:00 pm, when you can catch Oddny at an "Auto-Fiction" event with Edouard Louis and Bae Suah, or Filip and his translator Sean Gasper Bye at "A Most Exquisite Corpse" event with Francisco Cantú. by Oddný Eir
Translated from the Icelandic by Philip Roughton
“Oddný Eir is an authentic author, philosopher and mystic. She weaves together diaries and fiction. She is the writer I feel can best express the female psyche of now and has bridged the gap between rural Iceland and Western philosophy. A true pioneer!!!!!!!!”
