On Monday March 13, Deepak Unnikrishnan, author of Temporary People, will be reading from his work at the Franklin Park Reading Series along with Mary Gaitskill, author of The Mare; Joshua Mohr, author of Sirens; Clare Beams, author of We Show What We Have Learned; and Hannah Lillith Assadi, author of Sonora.
Temporary People takes on the humanitarian crisis of the so-called "guest workers" of the Persian Gulf with visionary flair; a starred review in Kirkus hails it as "an enchanting, unparalleled anthem of displacement and repatriation," and author Alexandra Kleeman calls it "a book of Ovidian metamorphoses for our precarious time."
The Franklin Park Reading Series takes place the second Monday of each month. Featuring readings from emerging and established fiction writers, memoirists, and poets, the series showcases local talent and host authors from around the world. Admission is free, and a $4 draft-drink special is offered for literary enthusiasts.
