Join Priyanka Champaneri for an in person conversation at Politics and Prose Bookstore with author Rion Amilcar Scott to celebrate the paperback release of her debut novel, The City of Good Death, which won our 2018 New Immigrant Writing Prize. Rion Amilcar Scott is the author of the story collections The World Doesn’t Require You and Insurrections.

Participants:
Priyanka Champaneri received her MFA in creative writing from George Mason University and has been a fellow at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts numerous times. Her debut novel, The City of Good Death, won the 2018 Restless Books Prize for New Immigrant Writing and was recently shortlisted for the 2021 Center for Fiction First Novel Prize.

Rion Amilcar Scott is the author of the story collections The World Doesn’t Require You and Insurrections, which was awarded the 2017 PEN/Bingham Prize for Debut Fiction and the 2017 Hillsdale Award from the Fellowship of Southern Writers. He teaches creative writing at the University of Maryland. His work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Kenyon Review, Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy 2020 and Crab Orchard Review, among other publications.
