Author Javad Djavahery and Translator Emma Ramadan Discuss "My Part of Her" at Riffraff Bookstore

Iranian author Javad Djavahery will present his extraordinary English-language debut, My Part of Her with his translator, Emma Ramadan at Riffraff Bookstore. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A and signing session.

Praised by Publishers Weekly as a “mesmerizing, excellent, and gripping tale”, My Part of Her is a devastating coming-of-age novel set on the Caspian Sea, about a youthful betrayal one summer and its far-reaching consequences for a group of friends as their lives are irrevocably altered by the Revolution.

Celebrated Iranian novelist and short story writer Javad Djavahery was forced to leave Iran, settling in France as a political refugee at the age of twenty, and is now based in Paris. Djavahery has produced several films and writes screenplays and fiction. He has two short story collections in Persian and two novels in French. My Part of Her is his English-language debut.

Emma Ramadan is a literary translator based in Providence, RI, where she is the co-owner of Riffraff, a bookstore and bar. She is the recipient of an NEA Translation Fellowship, a PEN/Heim grant, and a Fulbright scholarship.
