Grace Talusan was born in the Philippines and raised in New England. A graduate of Tufts University and the MFA Program in Writing at UC Irvine, she is the recipient of a U.S. Fulbright Fellowship to the Philippines and an Artist Fellowship Award from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Talusan teaches at the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts and is a longtime member of GrubStreet. She is the Fannie Hurst Writer-in-Residence at Brandeis University. The Body Papers, winner of the Restless Books Prize for New Immigrant Writing, is her first book.

Deepak Unnikrishnan is a writer from Abu Dhabi and a resident of the States, who has lived in Teaneck, New Jersey, Brooklyn, New York and Chicago, Illinois. He has studied and taught at the Art Institute of Chicago and presently teaches at New York University Abu Dhabi. Temporary People, his first book, was the inaugural winner of the Restless Books Prize for New Immigrant Writing.

Mona Kareem is the author of three poetry collections. Her most recent publication Femme Ghosts is a trilingual chapbook published by Publication Studio in Fall 2019. Her work has been translated into nine languages, and appear in Brooklyn Rail, Ambit, Michigan Quarterly Review, The Los Angeles Review of Books, Asymptote, Words Without Borders, Poetry International, PEN English, Modern Poetry in Translation, Two Lines, and Specimen. Kareem holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from the State University of New York at Binghamton. Kareem’s English translation of Ashraf Fayadh’s Instructions Within was nominated for the Best Translated Book Award in 2016 and was reprinted by English PEN in 2017. Her selected translations of Iraqi poet Ra’ad Abdul Qader will be published by Ugly Duckling Presse in Spring 2021. She is currently translating Octavia Butler’s Kindred to Arabic, to be released by Takween publishing in Fall 2020.

Ilan Stavans is Lewis-Sebring Professor of Humanities, Latin America and Latino Culture and the publisher of Restless Books. He has translated Lazarillo de Tormes, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, Jorge Luis Borges, Pablo Neruda, Mariano Azuela, and Juan Rulfo into English, Emily Dickinson and Elizabeth Bishop into Spanish, Yehuda Halevi and Yehuda Amichai from Hebrew, Isaac Bashevis Singer from Yiddish, and Shakespeare, Cervantes, and The Little Prince into Spanglish. His books include On Borrowed WordsDictionary Days, Quixote, On Self-Translation, and The Wall. He edited the Oxford Book of Jewish Stories, the Norton Anthology of Latino Literature, and Becoming Americans: Four Centuries of Immigrant Writing. The recipient of numerous awards and honors, his work, rendered into twenty languages, has been adapted to film, TV, radio, and theater.
