Each February, the United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY) publishes an honor list of books for young people from around the world. These books represent the best of international literature, opening doors to new cultures and rewriting preconceptions about whose stories and which places belong on the page. That’s the mission of Yonder, our imprint for young readers, and we’re so delighted to announce that two Yonder titles have been named to the 2020 Outstanding International Books List. First published in Chile, Daniel and Ismail is a one-of-a-kind, English-Arabic-Hebrew picture book by Juan Pablo Iglesias about a Jewish boy and a Palestinian boy who bond on the soccer field, with illustrations by Alex Peris. And from Iceland, The Casket of Time is a fantastical tale of time travel and environmental calamity by celebrated Icelandic author Andri Snær Magnason.
